Pastor NicholasIn My Opinion — Pastor Nicholas

It was certainly interesting to hear that Sen. Obama does not support reimposing the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters.  But we need to be aware of the rest of the statement made by Michael Ortiz, the Obama campaign's press secretary:

"He considers this debate on the Fairness Doctrine a distraction from the conversation we should be having about opening up the airwaves and modern communications to as many diverse viewpoints as possible.  That is why Sen. Obama supports media ownership caps, network neutrality, public broadcasting, as well as increasing minority ownership of broadcasting and print outlets."

In other words, the federal government should control and regulate exactly who owns a media outlet.  The government can fix the problem of not enough minority owned stations.  Maybe the Rev. Jeremiah Wright would like his own show so he could spew his anti-American nonsense as much as and any time he wants to.  No problem!  The government will handle it.

None of this is good news for those of us who value free speech in America.  Government is way too big and intrusive now — we don't need them involved in media regulation.

But that is just my opinion.
